Toronto City Council approves partnership to build more affordable housing in midtown Toronto

Toronto City Council approved the development of 447 new purpose-built rental homes at 275 Merton St., with 30% to be affordable in perpetuity. The City partnered with Collecdev-Markee to combine the property with an adjacent site, aiming to address the lack of affordable housing in Toronto. Construction is set to start in 2025, with completion expected by mid-2028. The initiative aligns with the City's HousingTO 2020-2030 Action Plan to provide 65,000 new rent-controlled homes by 2030.
